Why?

Why; the 3 little game-changing letterIf I could sum up my success with conquering my fitness goals into one little word, it would be the word WHY. I’ll explain... All my life people have always asked me how I was able to relentlessly follow through with goals. Be it my relentless meal prep commitment or my focus and dedication in the gym, my ability to want something and execute was something that I thought just came naturally to me. I say I thought because I know this to be very different now. I knew I had to take the time to dig a little deeper and understand why so many women would struggle with following through with fitness, lifestyle and nutrition goals. It wasn't until taking some time to uncover my thoughts, my habits and my own subconscious process that I realized that the answers showed up in three little letters... W H Y My ah-ha moment and the missing link for so many people who have deep desires to make changes. My HOW is essentially supported by my WHY... When I ask myself WHY I am doing something, my first response was obviously my family. I continued to think about it and realized how thought provoking the question was. To move forward with anything in our lives, to make changes, we need to know our why. Why do you go to work? For money? For the sheer joy of getting up to an alarm clock? (doubt it) If you want to make a change in your life, you have to know why. If you’ve decided you want to lose weight and exercise; you have to know why? Is it for your health? Do you dread clothes shopping? You want more energy to do things with your kids? Is it because you want a J-Lo derriere (get in line)?

Your why is and should be important. The more importance you attach to it, the more likely you are to see your goal through. Once you’ve determined your why you need to know your why not? Why haven’t you been able to do this in the past? Do you self-sabotage? Do you make excuses? Do you lack motivation or willpower? Are you just too busy? Once you determine your roadblocks and you have a clear picture of why you want to achieve a certain goal, the process will be much easier. Lets take action! Grab a pen and paper if you’re an old school kinda gal or make some notes in your phone and list 5 bullet points for both... 1)WHY do you want this (weight-loss, abs,) 2)WHY you have not been able to do this in the past (what is your self- sabotage) The simple exercise of writing it down and getting intimately clear on WHY you want something and what it means to you is very powerful. I have some great tricks to help you make your WHY visual too... stay tuned for my next blog. Until then, I’d love to hear from you. Do you know WHY you want something? Do you know WHY you have not followed through in the past? Let me know your thoughts by commenting below or reaching out.
